DESCRIPTION: 
After living in our own home for over 8 years, we designed and built our own kitchen/laundry room/powder room remodel for ourselves.  As only the second owners of this house, we spent enough time living in the house to appreciate the best things about our mid-century modern California Ranch house (like the kitchen to family room connection, and two-sided fireplace) while improving upon the areas that weren't serving us well (like a total lack of counter space and cabinet storage). By extending the kitchen into the old breakfast nook and lengthening the peninsula, as well as nixing a tiny kitchen desk, we doubled the functional cooking and casual dining surfaces without adding a square foot to the footprint of the home. 

Reorganizing the adjacent laundry room/overflow pantry/drop-zone with stacked laundry machines made for a welcome space to keep up with all the chores that keep a busy family running smoothly and staying organized.
